Aca estoy :-) / I'M BACK!

Buenos días Estimadxs,

     cómo están? Tanto tiempo sin verlos! La verdad es que los extrano mucho, no pasa un día sin pensar en ustedes. Es extrano, cuando estaba en Chile, a veces me sentí muy "oprimada" por ustedes, porque son muy de piel, muy amables, carinosos.. y tantas cosas lindas más! Acá no somos así.. Extrano todas las cosas chileas, aúnque me gusta que acá siempre vengan puntuales ;-)
     Bueno, acá ya empezó mi vida alemana. Había muchas cosas no tan claras sobre mi futuro: Trabajar en un crucero? Ir a estudar? Viajar? Trabajar? Ahora tengo panorama super bueno y me alegro mucho poder comunicarlos que vuelvo a mi querido Chilito! Hoy es exactamente un mes hasta que me suba a un avión para por fin poder volver :-) Tengo vuelo el primer de enero pero solamente hasta Sao Paulo. Desde allá vamos a ver cómo llegaré a Chile. Mi vuelo de vuelta va a ser el 28 de marzo, igual desde Sao Paulo... Son casi tres meses! YEAY!
     Cuando llegué a Alemana, sabía immediatamente que quiero volver lo más pronto que posible. Por eso busqué trabajo y ahora estoy trabajando en un gimnasio y hago más o menos todo: soy recepcionista, explico los aparatos de deporte y trabajo en la promoción (voy a ferias y esas cosas); además el gimnasio ofrece a cuidar a los hijos de los miembros durante ellos hagan deporte; igual hago esto a veces. Normalmente me gusta el trabajo en el gimnasio, pero no es el trabajo de mis suenos. Pero me pagan más o menos bien, por eso ya puedo volver a Chile y así lo agradezco no más.

     Además trabajo en una organización para ciegos. Es un trabajo muy interesante y divertido e igual aprendo mucho trabajando. Allá también trabajo en las "relaciones publicas" y me encanta!
Addicionalmente doy clases particulares en Inglés, Alemán, Latin y en realidad en todo :-D
     Por el momento estoy enferma porque la semana pasada (por fin) me sacaron las amigdalas que me han parado de participar en tenis o ir a trabajar tanto cuando estaba en Chile. Salió todo bien y la otra semana ya puedo volver a trabajar.
     Qué más? - Ah, después de haber estado en Sudamerica por casi tres meses (mi hermano mayor viene conmigo jiji), el 15 de mayo voy a viajar a una isla espanola que se llama Mallorca. Me quedo allá por 4 meses y trabajo con ninos allá. Cuando vuelvo a Alemania en Septiembre, por fn empezaré a estudiar jajaja :-)
     Espero que éstén bien y que los vea prontito por allá! Pasen bien el tiempo de Navidad con harto calor, acá hace MUCH frío, pero hasta ahora no hay nieve.. Saludos y un abrazo bien apretado!

Hey people,

     What you been upt to? How's life? Hnotow did you spend Thanksgiving?
So, I just wanted to update you guys on my life back in Germany after my amazing year in Chile. Straightforward, I already booked my tickets back to Chile. It's kinda like when I was back from the States: Not a day would pass without regretting no having stayed. Truth is: If anyone offered me a scholarship to study in Chile, I'd so take it without even thinking about it any further.
     BUT to travel as much as I love doing it, you need MONEY. Urgh. Hate that part. Right now I'm working in a gym as a desk clerk, explaining the sports equipment & going to fairs & exhibitions to present "my" gym. Furthermore, we offer to take care of the members' kids, so I sometimes do that as well. Let's be clear here: I like my job, but I wouldn't want to do it for the rest of my life. However, since they're paying me okay, I'm just glad I got the job.

     Additionally, I work with an organization for blind people. Again my assignment is public relation & I absolutely LOVE it! Working there is very diverse: It's something serious, because blindness is a hugh problem in developing countries because of a lack of hygiene, ignorance & missing medical care but on the other hand it's interesting & fun work to do, because you learn so much doing it! Besides I can get very creative working in public relations :-)
Not to mention the private lessons I give to keep myself busy :-P
     Moreover, right now I'm staying at home & it's super boring. They just removed my tonsils after I've had suffered from various amygdalitis when being in Chile. But it's all good & I'll start working again on Monday.
     Finally, I've another exciting announcement to make (no, I'm not pregnant haha :D): On May 15th I'll be heading to Mallorca (Spanish Island) to work there for another 4 months! My job will be entertaining tourists in "my" hotel. & who knows, I may start university on October 1st, 2015, but we'll se ;-).

BUENOS AIRES

DEUTSCH:

Hallo Pupsis! Wie war euer Ostern? & sämtliche Osterfeuer? Johanna & ich haben über Ostern erstmal 'n Flug nach Buenos Aires gebucht & was soll ich sagen? - Geile Stadt, kein Spaß! 

Letzte Woche Mittwoch sind wir mit dem Bus über Nacht nach Santiago gefahren, weil unser Flug Richtung Buenos Aires offiziell morgens um 08:40 gehen sollte.. naja, hat fast geklappt.. um 11:20 ging's dann aber wirklich los! & 2 Stunden später waren wir dann auch ENDLICH da. Schön warm war's da!

Wir haben uns für 6 Tage bei Lena & Nicola eingenistet (dickes DANKE an dieser Stelle nochmal!), 2 andere Freiwillige vom ELM, die recht zentral wohnen. Was für eine schöne, große Wohnung die hatten! Wir haben uns richtig wohlgefühlt :-) Außerdem war auch Lea, noch eine Freiwillige des ELM da. Wir haben viel erzählt, Erfahrungen ausgetauscht, gelacht & gegessen, haha :-) 

& natürlich ein bisschen was von Buenos Aires kennengelernt: den Río Tigre, das Barrio Chino (so'n chinesisches Stadtviertel), Recoleta ('n berühmter Friedhof) & einige Ferias, die halt wie eine Art "Flohmarkt" sind, wo man alles von Schmuck über Mate-Becher & Kerzen bishin zu Klamotten, Honig & anderem Essen kaufen kann. Fand' ich ziemlich cool!

Insgesamt hatten wir ein paar schöne Tage in Buenos Aires, & auch wenn die Rückreise ein bisschen anstrengend war (am Flughafen übernachten, zu heiße oder zu kalte Busfahrten, SEHR übermüdet,...), hab' ich es definitiv so richtig genossen; vorallem das Brunchen am Ostersonntag - das war schon ein bisschen wie zu Hause :-) Ich hoffe, es geht euch gut, ich drück' euch fest!
PS: Krasser Shit übrigens, ich war jetzt innerhalb von guten 2 Monaten in 4 verschiedenen Ländern!

Hey there! Happy Easter to y'all! What did you do for Easter? - Johanna & I booked a flight to Buenos Aires & yes, it was pretty awesome! What a beautiful city! Seriously!

On Wednesday night we went to Santiago by bus because we had a flight from Santiago to Buenos Aires early in the morning at 08:40. Well.. almost. In fact we left at 11:20, but oh well, that's what happens sometimes ;-) After a 2 hour flight we landed in Buenos Aires & it was really hot! - NICE! We stayed at some friends' house (thanks a million, Lena & Nicola!) &  had the chance to not only exchange experiences with them (they're also working as voluntaries for the same evangelical organization as we do) but also to have a great time getting to know Buenos Aires! It's pretty there, no doubt about that!

We went to Río Tigre, to the Barrio Chino (which is a bit like.. idk, it's not like China Town, but it's Chinese & you notice that as a matter of fact :-D), to Recoleta (a well known cemetry), & some ferias (which is like a flee market where you can buy pretty much EVERYTHING! It's pretty cool & we also bought some cool stuff ;-)).

All in all it was a short but awesome time which I enjoyed a lot even if coming back from Buenos Aires was kinda exhausting, haha. What I liked most about this trip was the Easter brunch on Sunday. - I felt a bit like home :-) So, I'm hoping y'all are doing great! Hugs!
PS: Haha, I just realized that I was in 4 different countries within 2 months, sweet!

Hola chic@s! Como han pasado su Pascua de Resurrección? Bien? - Unos de ustedes ya lo saben, pero Johanna y yo fuimos a Buenos Aires y es una ciudad super bonita!

El miercoles en la noche nos fuimos a Santiago en bus porque tuvimos un vuelo de Santiago a Buenos Aires el Jueves en la manana a las 08:40.. por fin empezamos el viaje en avion a las 11:20 - Bienvenido a Chile, jaja :-) Después de un vuelo de 2 horas llegamos a Buenos Aires - y hacia mucho calor allá - yeay! :-)

Nos quedamos en la casa de otras voluntarias de nuestra organización, con Lena y Nicola! (Gracias por un tiempo maravilloso en su casita maravillosa!) - Cambiamos experiencias con ellas, comimos y disfrutamos mucho estar juntas, bueno, y también conocimos a Buenos Aires: el Río Tigre, el Barrio Chino, Recoleta (un cemeterio famoso) y unas ferias de artesania. Todo me gustó demasiado! ;-)

El viaje de vuelta fue un poco agotador pero valió toda la pena, definitivamente! Lo que disfruté mas era el desayuno grande el Domingo (PASCUAA! :-)) con todas porque me senti como en casa en Alemania con mi familia :-) Ojalá que estén super bien! Un abrazo grande!
PS: Fui a 3 países al lado de Chile en solo 2 meses.. me gusta!

Hallo meine lieben Stalker, 

ich weiß, ich habe mir schon wieder ganz schön viel Zeit gelassen mit dem Blogeintrag.. Seit dem letzten weiß ich jetzt z.B. mein Abreisedatum, mein Papi hat mich besucht & die Arbeit & inzwischen sogar die Sportkurs in der Uni haben wieder angefangen. - Ich bin also ganz gut ausgelastet & überglücklich, aber fangen wir mal von vorne an:

Am 16.07. nachmittags chilenischer Zeit werden wir uns wieder gen Heimat begeben & kommen am 18.07. morgens in Hamburg an. Eigentlich dachte ich mir: "Hey, geil! Besäufnis auf Tilmans Abiball, dann verpasse ich den ja doch nicht!" (immerhin habe ich damals Franz' Abiball wegen meines Aufenthaltes in den USA verpasst..) - ABER meine ehemalige Schule (ganz ohne Namen -ERNESTINUM-...) wusste das sehr wohl zu verhindern, dass ich da aufkreuze, indem der Abiball einfach mal um 1 Woche vorgezogen wurde. Die sollen sich mal nicht einbilden, dass ich ihretwegen zum Abiball gekommen wäre, wollte eigentlich nur mein Bruderherzi feiern, aber gut, das gehört dann wohl zu den Nachteilen eines Auslandsaufenthalts: Man verpasst nunmal Manches. Trostpflaster ist dann wohl das Schützenfest in Scharnhorst, welches wirklich am Wochenende meiner Rückkehr stattfindet. Sauber! :-)

Javier, Diego, Johanna, ich, Lisa, Papa

Zum Besuch meines Papis: Ja, er war wirklich hier & insgesamt haben wir etwa anderthalb Wochen zusammen verbringen können, von der wir eine hier in Conce waren & die andere halbe unterwegs nahe des Nationalparks Conguillío; das war ziemlich cool! Hier in Conce haben wir Papa ein bisschen rumführen können, sodass er unsere Kirche, 'ne Mall, einen der vielen Strände & meine Arbeit natürlich kennenlernen konnte. Auf meiner Arbeit sind alle total auf meinen jungen (eigentlich wollte ich das jetzt in Anführungszeichen stellen, aber aus Gründen des Respekts tu ich's dann doch nicht ;-)) Papa abgefahren sind & er erstmal überall für meinen Bruder gehalten wurde, haha.. Auf jeden Fall sagt Papa zumindest, es habe ihm hier gefallen & dass es ihn freue, dass ich hier so gut aufgehoben sei..

... perfekter Übergang zum nächsten Punkt: ICH BIN SUPER GLÜCKLICH HIER! Die Sprache ist fast überhaupt kein Problem mehr, der Schalter, einfach drauf los zu labern, hat sich wirklich endlich umgelegt, auf der Arbeit ist es der HAMMER (hab' jetzt eine neue, eigene AG, nämlich eine Erdkunde-AG, in der wir spielerisch & kulinarisch zusammen verschiedene Länder dieser Erde kennenlernen, juhu!) & die Sportkurse (Tennis 2x wöchentlich & Zumba 3x wöchentlich) machen nicht nur super viel Spaß, sondern sind natürlich auch ein schöner Ausgleich neben Feierei & Arbeit & man lernt neue Leute kennen. Im Grunde genommen fällt es mir also ziemlich schwer, an meine wirklich schon baldige Heimreise zu denken, WEIL ich gerade hier so glücklich bin...

... aber keine Sorge, Leute, ich komme wieder; genieße halt nur meine Zeit hier so gut wie irgend möglich & macht euch wegen der beiden Erdbeben vor anderthalb Wochen etwa keine Sorgen, die waren zwar hier in Chile, aber ca. 2000 km weiter nördlich, also haben wir, außer einer Räumung der Küstenregionen auch bei uns hier in Conce, nicht so viel davon mitbekommen. Trotzdem hoffen wir, gerade weil wir nicht wirklich wissen, wie es in Iquique aussieht, dass es den Menschen dort gut geht.

So, so viel zu meinem "kleinen" Update. Pläne für Ostern sind auch schon gemacht, aber das wird eine Überraschung, auf jeden Fall geht es aber auf Reisen ;-) Bis bald!!! 

PS: Heute ist der Geburtstag meines Viertels hier, HERZLICHEN GLÜCKWUNSCH, AGÜITA DE LA PERDIZ! :-)

Hey there, Creepers ;-)

I know I let you wait at least half a life time on this post here, but here it finally is! It's been a month now & some things changed: Buy now, I DO know when I go back to Germany, my dad came all the way down to visit me & I got back to work & to my classes of sports. I'm pretty happy!

On July 16th we will leave Chile... for now. We actually do have a 12 hour stay in Miami, FL, so if you guys wanna come by & see me... ;-) Just kidding. But after about 48 hours of travelling (yes, it is indeed a pretty shitty flight..), we will arrive July 18th in Germany in the morning; I'M KIND OF EXCITED :-D Unfortunately I thought it would be my brother's prom on July 18th but it seems like they changed the date to one week earlier.. Thanks guys, I knew you hated me but really? I wouldn't come to see you, but to acutally celebrate my brother.. Anyways, there will be "Schützenfest" the weekend that I come home, that's kind of like a fair & it will be fun, so that gives me a bit of comfort, haha :-)

Then my dad came to visit me. We spent about a week & a half together - here in our house but as well we went on a trip to a national park called "Conguillío". That was pretty cool & we had an awesome time! He also had the chance to get to know my life here & in the end he said he's happy to see me being happy & that I have people here who really care for me..

... this actually fits to the next topic: I'm pretty happy here & do you know why? - Because the "Centro Comunitario" is just perfect for me. I love what I do & with whom I'm doing it: The "co-workers", the kids, the parents, the comunity.. It's a pure blessing to be a part of this! Besides my sports classes just started in the University of Concepción: On mondays & fridays I play Tennis, & on mondays, wednesdays & fridays I have "Zumba". I gotta admit it's kind of suicidal dancing Zumba in a South American country because Zumba has its origins here & everyone can dance using their hips like there's no tomorrow.. So, yeah, I'm the German potato among the other girls there. It's still pretty fun though! Aditionally, I finally TALK! Like all the time! So I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but finall I just talk whitout thinking about it.

- You may have noticed that I AM pretty happy here. I enjoy the last 3 months as much as possible. & don't you worry: Those earthquakes who were on TV from about a week ago - those were way up north in Iquique, I didn't notice anything of it. Let's still hope that the situation there gets better soon..

We also have some pretty awesome plans for Easter, but that's gonna be a surprise for you guys.

Hola mis querid@s! Cómo están? Sé que no escribí nada por harto tiempo pero ahora SI! :-)

Hay unas cosas nuevas de mi vida aca: Ahora yo sé cuando me voy a Alemania de vuelta, mi Papá me visitó y ya empezaron mis clases de deporte en la UdeC.

Bueno, me voy a Alemania el 16 de Julio y en realidad no me gusta pensar en volver.. Va a ser un viaje MUY agotador porque son unos 40 horas hasta que llegemos a Alemania el 18 de Julio. Lamentablamente el baile de mi hermano menor para terminar el liceo NO es el 18 pero una semana antes, asi no puedo participar en este.. Làstima!

Ademas, mi Papí llegó a Conce el 21 y nosotros pasamos una semana y media aca en Conce pero también en el Parque Nacional "Conguillío" cerca de Curacautín. Era un tiempo maravilloso y a mi Papá le gustó mucho conocer Chile con su hija, por lo menos un poco. Es feliz que yo me siento tan bien aca en un país tan lindo con gente tan amable..

... "sentirse bien" es buena pasada para hablar sobre mi trabajo y sobre lo que hago en mi tiempo libre. El trabajo en mi proyecto es muy divertido y lo disfruto mucho. También a veces es un poco cansador (especialmente en mi taller nuevo), porque todavia me cuesta un poco decir TODO lo que quiero decir. PERO por lo menos finalmente hablo mas o menos mucho. No quiero pensar en los primer 4 a 5 meses aca ;-) Adicionalmente ya empezaron mis clases de deporte: lunes y viernes de tenis y lunes, miercoles y viernes de gimnasia entretenida. Nunca hice gimnasia entretenida antes pero me gusta mucho :-) y tenis igual obvio. 

Los fines de semana normalmente paso tiempo con la otra Johanna y/o otros amigos y/o tocando el piano. Entonces todo super bien :-)

- Ahora bien, quizás  notaron que de verdad soy super feliz aca y super contenta con mi trabajo. Estoy disfrutando todo lo que pasa, aún no me gusta tanto que estamos en otono ahora - HACE FRIO! - pero bueno ;-)

Halfway there... Halfway gone?

     Liebe Menschen back home, ich bin gerade vom Zwischenseminar wieder da & es war großartig! Wirklich! Wir waren 13 Freiwillige von verschiedensten Organisationen, alle hier in Chile, & haben zusammen diskutiert, uns ausgetauscht, verschiedenste Dinge gelernt & für einander gekocht (kleine Info: Wir waren auf einer Art Bauernhof mitten in der Pampa in der Nähe von Los Angeles (ca. 2 Stunden süd-östlich von Concepción)). Unsere Teamer waren der Hammer, die anderen Freiwilligen auch & es hat mir unheimlich gut getan, mich noch einmal mit anderen Freiwilligen auszutauschen, nachdem ich damals in Valparaíso größtenteils auf Freiwillige gestoßen bin, die außer Party & saufen nicht so viel im Sinn hatten. Naja, offensichtlich geht es auch engagierter & mit mehr Eigeninitiative & Energie. Gut, dass ich das noch erfahren durfte! Ich für meinen Teil würde also schon sagen, dass wir eine super Zeit hatten & sowohl viel bereits Geschehenes verarbeitet haben & auf eventuell noch Kommendes vorbereitet wurden.

Was mir auf einmal unheimlich bewusst wurde, war, dass jede/r Einzelne von uns verschiedenste Erfahrungen macht, in den verschiedensten Städten mit den verschiedensten Hintergründen, Menschen & äußeren Einflüssen. Wir haben auch eine Einheit zum Thema "postkoloniale Theorien" gehabt & eine Lektüre mit dem Namen "mit kolonialen Grüßen..." zum selbigen Thema & auch zur kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit Freiwilligenberichten bekommen. Meiner Meinung nach sind einige Dinge, die dort über Rassismus oder Diskriminierung drinstehen zwar total überspitzt (ich fühle mich ein bisschen, als dürfte ich euch gar nichts mehr erzählen), aber ich halte es durchaus für wichtig, sich darüber zu informieren (an mir ging übrigens das Thema "spanischer Kolonialismus" in der Schule vorbei.. voll schade eigentlich!). Offensichtlich spielt der Kolonialismus (& darüber sollten "wir" aus dem "Globalen Norden" uns auch bewusst werden) immer noch nicht nur hier, sondern auch in Europa eine wesentliche Rolle, doch darüber diskutieren wir ein andern Mal. Worum es eigentlich gehen soll, ist, dass während ICH euch hier auf MEINEM Blog über MEINE Erfahrungen in MEINEM Projekt informiere, ANDERE Freiwillige in ANDEREN Städten ANDERE Erfahrungen machen, auch wenn wir uns schon im gleichen Land befinden. & dort beginnt quasi Diskriminierung (wobei "Diskriminierung" nicht sofort negativ ist, sondern so verstanden werden muss, dass man quasi eine Charaktereigenschaft einer gesamten Gruppe zuschiebt (Deutsche = immer pünktlich, Chilenen = gute Tänzer, etc.)): Wenn ICH über MEINE Erfahrungen berichte, das aber total verallgemeinere, quasi so, als würde JEDER Freiwillige in Chile die gleiche Erfahrung machen. Fakt ist aber, dass es nicht nur eine Rolle spielt, über welche Stadt, welche soziale Schicht & welche Art von Projekt ich schreibe, sondern auch, in welcher sozialen & gesellschaftlichen Schicht Ich mich in Deutschland sehe. Egal, was mir passiert & was ich Neues erlerne, ich interpretiere Geschehenes anders (wenn vielleicht auch nicht grundlegend anders) als evtl. eine/r von euch.

Ich habe mir zwar schon Gedanken darüber gemacht, wie ich was schreibe, aber noch nie, wie das Erzählte vielleicht auf euch wirken könnte. Zusammenfassend & vielleicht auch weniger kompliziert lässt sich sagen, dass das, was ihr hier lest, wirklich & ausschließlich MEINE Erfahrungen & MEINE Meinung gegenüber verschiedensten Themen ist; & nein, ich bin KEINE neutrale, objektiv-betrachtende Chile-Expertin ;-)

Wir ihr merkt, habe ich etwas Neues gefunden, mit dem ich mich demnächst etwas intensiver beschäftigen werde: Diskriminierung & Rassismus im Alltag & in Berichten über Auslandserfahrungen.

So, das war jetzt aber auch viel Theorie hier für euch & bestimmt ganz schön harte Kost (vorallem, weil ich mich selbst nicht so für den Bilderbuchtheoretiker halte & daran auch eigentlich gar nicht so viel Spaß habe), der nächste Blogeintrag wird also seinen Schwerpunkt wieder auf MEINEN Erfahrungen haben, keine Sorge ;-) Ich hoffe, bei euch ist alles gut, für mich fängt am Montag nach einem guten Monat Sommerferien wieder die Arbeit im Projekt & somit der Alltag an - & ICH FREU' MICH RIESIG DRAUF! :-) Bis demnächst, eure JOMA (auf dem Seminar gab's 2 weitere Johannas, da musste einfach namentlich unterschieden werden & aus "Johanna Maria" wurde kurzerhand "Joma".)

     Dear people all over the world, I just got home from our seminar & it was awesome! We were 13 voluntaries from all over Chile & (which is also important) from different organizations in Germany & had the chance to talk about our experiences, get to know each other, spend time together & cook together because we lived on a farm near Los Angeles (south-east of Concepción), far from "civilization". Haha, this is acutally a great way to start the following topic: We talked a lot about postcolonial theories & what that means referring to our year abroad. Well, postcolonial theory in general educates about racism & discrimination against all kinds of people. Let's put it this way: Discrimination starts right here. With me. & how I inform you guys about my stay here. While I write about MY experiences in MY project, OTHERS experience OTHER things in ANOTHER city, however we're in the same country. But by generalizing everything I experience, I personally discriminate on the one hand against Chilean people who don't live the way it is described by me & on the other against voluntaries who don't make the same experiences. Do you understand the point? Yes? I know, right? "Discriminated" sounds a bit exaggerated (at least to me), especially because it is not even my intention to generalize everything & by doing so discriminate against others. But my intention doesn't really matter in this context. Actually, as a matter of fact, I need to inform you guys about how I can get out of this tricky situation by telling you the following: This is MY Blog. About MY experiences. In MY project. So everything that is described here, is seen by ME. & it's not only about where I live & what I see here in Chile, but also about where I'm coming from in Germany, like: Did my parents go to college? Do I have the chance to go to college? What about my financial background? & my educational one? etc. That means that a German person with another social, financial & educational background could see things that happen here (even if they were the same things that I have experienced) differentely.

In the end that means that I write about MY experiences & that YOU as my audience kind of stuff should not reflect this on whole Chile, because people in other parts of Chile live differently, behave differently, ARE simply different. I'm neither a neutral observator, nor an objective Chile-expert ;-)

As you may have noticed, I've found another interesting topic to think & discuss about, even if I knew before that my experiences that I made e.g. in the States back in 2011, are not the same as e.g. German friends of mine were making back then or are making them right now. It's an interesting topic which still affects pretty much all of us, you guys in the States for example live as well on "colonized ground" & did you actually really & deeply think about what that really means (no offence, just asking)?...

Well, this was a hard topic, I gotta admit that, but I have fun talking about it, PLUS I swear that the next post again will be about MY life here, don't you worry ;-) All in all, I had a great week exchanging experiences & getting to know some other voluntaries. I hope you guys are doing awesome, I will go back to work (after one month of summer vacation time) & I'M SUPER PUMPED & EXCITED!      Hola querid@s, cómo están? Estoy en Conce de vuelta y he pasado un seminario hermoso en una granja cerca de Los Angeles con unos 12 voluntarios de todas partes de Chile y también de organisaciónes diferentes en Alemania. Hemos pasado una semana bacán allá y teníamos la oportunidad de intercambiar las experiencias nuestras con otros. Eso fue necesario (por lo menos para mí) porque hasta ahora solamente hablé con "voluntarios" de otras ciudades en Chile que me hicieron creer que "ser voluntari@" significa "carretear y estar borrach@ todo el tiempo". Pero obvio no es así y hay otros voluntarios que en realidad son muy bacánes y a quienes les gusta ocuparse con el idioma diferente, su trabajo en sus proyectos diferentes y con la gente diferente. Muy bien! ;-)

Yo aprendí algo nuevo sobre mi tiempo aca que también es un tema dificil pero todaviá importante para todas personas afectadas (que son hartas... todas mas o menos): post-colonial teoría y que significa eso especialmente para mi y mis reportes en ese Blog y en los e-mails a mis amigos y mi familia. Como saben hay hartas cosas nuevas para mí, mientras "nuevas" no significa "malas". "Nuevas" significa que es distinto en Alemania pero no que es mejor en Alemania. Pero post-colonial teoría significa que cuando yo escribo algo aca en ese Blog, y no digo obvío que es una experiencia MIA en el proyecto MIO en ese barrio MIO, yo esto generalizando las cosas que pasan aca y (también si no es mi intención (y obvio no es mi intención!)) por eso estoy discriminando a personas que viven en OTRAS ciudades chilenas, OTROS barrios (también aca en Conce) con OTROS problemas y OTROS bagajes (por ejemplo mas o menos dinero, educación, posición social, etc.). DISCRIMINACIÒN no obligatorio significa algo mal, discriminación en primer lugar significa que se dice algo sobre alguien que noe es verdad. Y cuando yo no digo que todo en ese Blog es la experiencia MIA y que la gente en otras partes vive (por ejemplo) diferentamente, eso es discriminación porque la gente en Alemania puede pensar que es así en todo Chile. Bueno, no sería tan mal si ellos pensaran así, porque ellos saben que a mi me gusta harto mi vida aca y la Agüita de la Perdiz, per como ya dije: También cosas buenas rulstan en discriminación, si no es claro que solamente es así en la Agüita (por ejemplo). Otro ejemplo puede ser: Alemanes siempre son puntuales = Discriminación porque pienso que todos Alemanes son asi, lo que no es verdad. O bien: Chilenos saben bailar = Discriminación porque obvio no todos Chilenos saben bailar bien.

Igual es importante QUIEN esta ESCRIBIENDO (no solamente LEYENDO), que en este caso obvio soy yo, pero otra persona de Alemania con otra educación, más o menos dinero/amigos/influencia podría tener otra impresión de las mismas experiencias, me entienden (cachaj? :-D)? Es verdad, es un tema dificil y espero que lo haya explicado bien porque es un problema global y hay que ocuparse con ese tema si se va a otros países, no importa porque (estudios, voluntario/a, viajes, etc.). Pero a mi me gustaba conocer ese tema y informar a mis amigos y mi familia que es importante que mi experiencia no es la misma que hacen otros voluntarios aca.

Como notaron, ahora tengo nuevo tema para discutir y informarme y tenía una semana muy interesante en Ralco. Estoy feliz que ahora me quedo en Conce y voy a volver a "mi vida normal" aca después de las vacaciones y ese seminario. La próxima vez (lo promito!) voy a escribir sobre MIS experiencias de nuevo, espero que ahora no estén tan aburridos, normalmente no soy tan teórica ;-)

Long Time No See...

DEUTSCH:

Hey ihr Lieben! Was gibt es Neues aus Deutschland? Genießt ihr den Winter schön? Wie ihr vielleicht mitbekommen habt, wurde ich in den letzten Wochen von Carsten, meinem Freund, aus Deutschland besucht. Er kam am 24.01. & nachdem wir uns 2 Tage bei irrer Hitze durch Santiago geschlagen haben, habe ich ihn danach ca. eine Woche mit durch meinen Alltag hier in Concepción geschleift. Wir sind von Stränden über Ausflüge mit meinem Projekt bishin zu Treffen mit Freunden gesprungen & mussten nebenbei noch die Reise unseres Lebens planen. Aaaaaanstrengend, das kann ich euch sagen, aber es hat sich (für mich zumindest :P) gelohnt.

Am 30.01. sind wir dann als mit dem Nachtbus los Richtung Patagonien (Süden Chiles), um Klaas & Annika zu besuchen & kamen nach geschlagenen 2 Tagen reisen dann auch am Samstagnachmittag an. Mitten im Nirgendwo. Ohne Wasser. Ohne Strom. OHNE LÄRM. Das war so richtig schön & vorallem noch ruhiger als in Scharnhorst; so'n richtiger Kontrast zu Concepción quasi. Hab' ich so richtig genossen!

Am 06.02. ging dann unsere Fähre von Chaitén wieder nördlich nach Puerto Montt (11 Stunden Fahrt) & am 07.02. morgens ging der Flug von Puerto Montt nach La Paz, Bolivien. Wir verbrachten dort in einem netten, kleinen Hostel etwa 2 Tage & zusammenfassend lässt sich über die Stadt sagen: laut, merklich höchstgelegene Stadt, hohe Altersarmut, viel Luftverschmutzung, bunt. Ohne Witz, meine ersten & ich glaube auch einzigen Eindrücke von La Paz. Bolivien ist so ein schönes Land, sucht euch nicht die bekannteste Stadt zum Reisen aus - es lohnt sich wirklich nicht. 

Am 09.02. haben wir eine Tagestour von La Paz aus zur "Isla del Sol" (Sonneninsel) im Titicacasee gemacht. Das war richtig super & total schön! (wie immer findet ihr Fotos übrigens im Anhang ;-)) & am 10.02. ging's für uns dann mit dem Bus (14 Stunden) von La Paz nach Cusco, Peru. Machu Picchu stand nämlich auch auf unserem Plan ;-) & anstatt Hunderte von €s für eine Tour mit Guide & so'nem Pipapo auszugeben, haben wir lieber unsere eigene Tour geplant: Eintritt 30$ (DOLLAR!), Busfahrt 20$, Zug 50$ (eine Fahrt, pro Person, GANZ SCHÖN FRECH!), sodass wir insgesamt auf etwa 150$ pro Person kommen, was im Vergleich zu organisierten Touren mit Guide wirklich 'n Schnäppchen ist! Wir kleinen Sparfüchse ;-)

Am 13.02. sind wir (wieder über Nacht) von Cusco nach Arequipa gefahren. Angeblich eine wunderschöne Stadt! - Bullshit. Laut, unübersichtlich, dreckig. Sorry, aber da kenn' ich weitaus schönere Städte, ABER (& davon waren wir ziemlich überrascht, weil wir Deutschen da nicht so den Hype draus machen) die haben da 'ne super dicke Fete in der Stadtmitte zu Ehren des Valentinstages gefeiert. Ziemlich lässig! ;-) Achso & geraftet sind wir, das war natürlich auch ziemlich cool :-)

Am 15.02. ging's dann weiter über Tacna zurück nach Chile, nach Arica nämlich. Arica ist wirklich eine schöne Stadt. & nachdem wir mit unserer ersten spontanten Unterkunft (3* Hotel) eher einen mittelschweren Griff ins Klo erleben mussten, hatten wir mit unserem 2. Hostel weitaus mehr Glück: Es war nämlich das beste Hostel, welches ihr euch vorstellen könnt! Krasser Shit! Außerdem (& das war der Grund, warum wir eigentlich in Arica waren) war gerade Karneval in Arica, den haben wir uns natürlich auch nicht entgehen lassen. :-) 

So & nachdem wir 3 anstrengende aber durchaus sehr schöne Wochen reisen hinteruns hatten, erfolgte dann gestern der schwere Abschied für die kommenden 5 Monate. Nicht leicht, sage ich euch. Ich glaube, die Leute, die ich im Bus mehr oder weniger vollgeheult habe, können das durchaus bestätigen. Das Gute ist aber, dass ich eigentlich gar nicht so viel Zeit habe, an das Negative zu denken. Klar, es sind noch 5 Monate & die können lang werden, aber die ersten 6 Monate sind schon geschafft (um genau zu sein 216 Tage!). Außerdem fahren wir morgen auf 'n Zwischenseminar für etwa 'ne Woche & Mitte März KOMMT MEIN PAPI MICH BESUCHEN (hallo Papa!) & darauf freue ich mich auch unheimlich :-) Dann werden noch neue Sportkurse gewählt, irgendwann ist Ostern, dann habe ich auch schon bald Geburtstag... Kinder, & dann ist das Jahr wieder um. Ich bin einfach unheimlich gespannt auf alles, was noch kommt, auch wenn ich einige Menschen natürlich sehr vermisse (& sie mich). Ich bin ja bald wieder da ;-) - So, ich muss jetzt noch Sachen packen. Habt ein schönes Wochenende, ich versuche mich ab demnächst wieder häufiger zu melden, bis bald! <3

Hey Sweeties! What's the news? How's winter time in the States? Don't know if you realized it, but my boyfriend came all the way from Germany to visit me. He arrived Jan. 24th & after picking him up & spending 2 days in Santiago, I introduced him to my everyday life here in Concepción for about a week. We went from beaches to day trips of my work up to meeting some of my friends here. Oh, & besides we had to plan our own journey. Exhausting, but (at least for me:P) it was definitely worth it!

We started our journey Jan. 30th in a bus at night from here to Patagonia (South of Chile) to visit a friend of Carsten & after almost 2 days of travelling we finally arrived safely. In the middle of nowhere, without electricity, without running water (kind of what some of my friends from BK High School thought of Germany...), but still really pretty & QUIET! I so enjoyed being there, it was awesome! :-)

Feb. 6th, our ferry left Chaitén to Puerto Montt (11 hours ride) & Feb. 7th we had a flight from Puerto Montt to la Paz, Bolivia. We stayed 2 days in the actual city, thinking of it in the end that it's too loud, there is too much poverty of elders & pollution, & some awesome colors!... If one day I had the chance to go to Bolivia again, I would not choose La Paz. There are so many great places in Bolivia, don't go to La Paz, it's not worth it :-P

Feb. 9th we had a day trip to the "Isla del Sol" (Isle of the Sun), located in the Lake Titicaca to see some Inka ruins. That was so beautiful.. & interesting of course! :-)

Feb. 10th we (finally :-P) left La Paz to go to Cusco, Peru in bus (14 hours ride), because we definitely wanted to see Machu Picchu as well (sweeeeeet sh*t!). But instead of spending too much on an organized tour with guide, we just planned the trip ourselves, saving a great amount: entrance 30$, bus 20$, train 50$ (one way, per person, HOW RUDE!). All together we paid like 150$ per person which is half of what we would have paid for a guided tour. You can even save some more money by walking the Inka Trail instead of paying the bus, but we were told that it's closed (so we didn't save the 20$.. buh!). But still, we saved some money & still got to see great Machu Picchu - pure Awesomeness right there!

Feb. 13th, we took another bus (at night) from Cusco to Arequipa, because "Arequipa is such a pretty city!". At least that's what they told us. Sorry, people, but I didn't enjoy the city that much: loud, ugly, dirty. However they had a pretty big party for Valentine's Day which was surprising for Carsten & me, because we totally forgot about it (you know, Germans are not that much into Valentine's Day). Oh, plus we went rafting (yeay!) - that was soooooooo cool! :-)

Feb. 15th, we went further South from Arequipa to Tacna to Arica. Finally back in Chile! & Arica really is a great city! & after the first night in the worst hotel (3*) ever, we had the greatest hostel booked for 3 nights! NICE! Besides there was a Carnaval in Arica which we went to see as well. Great times! :-)

& after 3 exhausting but still amazing weeks of travelling through South America with my boyfriend, yesterday was the day to say "goodbye" for the next 5 months.. Sad? - Sure, but I don't have that much time to think about the negative things about my stay here. Tomorrow for example we gotta leave because we have a seminar in Ralco (I have no idea where that's supposed to be..). & in the middle of March, guess what happens? - MY DADDY COMES TO VISIT ME, LUCKY ME! I'm just so excicted about everything that will happen within the upcoming 5 months, starting tomorrow, I don't even wanna think in the negative stuff. Time flies, man! A big hug & love, Johanna.

Hola gente! Cómo están? Qué estaban haciendo en sus vacaciones? No sé si lo notaron pero mi pololo me visitó, llegó el 24 de enero y después de estar en Santiago por 2 días (uff, que calor!), yo le presenté mi vida acá en Conce. Fuimos a la playa, a paseos con mi trabajo y a juntarnos con algunos amigos mios. Además necestiamos planificar nuestro viaje por Chile, Peru y Bolivia! Que cansador! Pero (por lo menos para mi) valió la pena!

Empezamos el viaje el 30 de enero en un bus en la noche de Conce a Puerto Montt y después de casi 2 días de viajar, llegamos a Palena en Patagonia para visitar a Klaas y Annika, unos amigos de Carsten. No había luz, no había agua, no había ruido - lo disfruté mucho y la paisaje era hermosa!

El 6 de feb. habiamos reservado unos tickets para un barco de Chaitén á Puerto Montt (11 horas) y el 7 tuvimos un vuelo de Puerto Montt a La Paz, Bolivia. Nos quedamos en La Paz por 2 días y hay que decir que esa ciudad definitivamente no es bonita: hay tanto ruido, tanta pobresa de mayores, tanta contaminación del aire.. Si un día tuviera la oportunidad de ir a Bolivia de nuevo, no iría a La Paz, porque hay hartos lugares mas bonitos allá.

El 9 de feb. fuimos a un paseo a la "Isla del Sol" al Lago Titicaca. Que hermosa esa isla! Y también que interesante ver y conocer unas ruinas de los Inkas :-)

El 10 de feb. (finalemente :-P) nos fuimos de La Paz a Cusco, Peru en bus (14 horas), porque quizimos conocer Machu Picchu también (que bacán allá!). Pero porque no quizimos gastar todo nuestro dinero en Machu Picchu en un tour con guía, lo planificamos por nos mismos: entrada 30$ (DOLLARES!), bus 20$, tren 50$ (por persona, one way!). Contar todo junto son como 150$ por persona. No es mucho en comparación a un tour con guía y esas cosas. Puedes ahorrar más dinero, si vas el "Inka Trail" en vez de pagar esas 20$ para un bus, per nos dijeron que está cerrado por eso no fuimos por el "Inka Trail". Todavía tuvimos un tiempo maravilloso en Machu Picchu!

El 13 de feb. tomamos otro bus de Cusco a Arequipa porque antes de nuestro viaje había gente que nos dijó que es bonito allá.. en serio?... mentira. A mi no me gustó porque es sucio, ruidoso y poco claro. Aún había una marcha y una fiesta grande por el día de San Valentín! Que lindooo! Para nosotros en Alemania no es un día tan grande y importante pero en Peru obvio si es. Carsten y yo olvidamos de ese día, bueno.. hasta vimos esa marcha ;-) Además hicimos Rafting y nos gustó muchooo :-)

El 15 de feb. nos fuimos en bus por Tacna a Arica, Chile. FINALEMENTE CHILE! Y Arica es una ciudad bonita y nosotros fuimos a la playa y a disfrutar el Carnaval allá, que bien! Addicionalmente tuvimos el hostel lo más bacán en todo el mundo :-) - Y después de 3 semanas de viajar (cansador pero bonito!) habia que decir "Adios" en Santiago ayer para los próximos 5 meses. Si estoy triste? - Sipo, pero no tengo tant tiempo para estar triste: Manana nos vamos a un seminario para una semana y en la midad de marzo MI PAPA VIENE A VISITARME! :-) Que buena sorpresa! - Es verdad, el tiempo pasa tan rapido, no puedo creer que ya estoy aquí por 216 días. Hay que disfrutar todo lo mas que posible! Bueno, me voy, hay cosas que preparar para manana. Que les vaya bien, cuidense mucho, Johanna.
